Help Mac Run Again!

My best friend Mac—my beautiful, goofy, four-legged soulmate—urgently needs knee surgery. Mac is a 6-year-old border collie mix who rescued me five years ago. He loves nothing more than to sprint after a squirrel, bound through the grass, and greet life at full speed. But now, he can barely make it up the five steps into our home.

Two months ago, Mac tore the ligament in his left knee and partially tore the one in his right. Last week, while chasing a squirrel, his knee gave out completely. Since then, he’s been in constant pain. Without surgery, Mac will never run—or even walk comfortably—again.

Mac is a big boy (about 85 lbs), rescued from a shelter in Tennessee. That extra size makes knee issues more likely, and now we’re here. I wish I had known to get health insurance, but I’ll never make that mistake again.

He’s more than just my companion—he’s family. Even our cat, Grover, treats Mac like a brother (in his own mischievous way—usually by ambushing Mac’s tail!). Together, they’ve brought so much love and laughter into my life.

The cost of surgery is $4,829–$5,029. Anything raised above that will be donated to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville, to help other animals in need.
