Meet Mable!
Mable (affectionately known as “Big Mama”) is an 11-year-old rescue Pit Bull mix with a heart of pure gold. She loves her daily walks, car rides, and her three new doggy siblings. She is an incredible dog, and we are so lucky to have her in our lives.
Mable’s journey has been a long one. After her original owner passed away, she was briefly placed in a temporary home but, to absolutely no fault of her own, was ultimately surrendered to a high kill shelter in Los Angeles. Because of her age, Mable was placed on the red list to be euthanized. Thankfully, she was pulled just in time and spent several months in a loving, but temporary, foster home in San Diego, soaking up the sun and learning what it means to feel safe again.
We worked tirelessly for months to help find Mable a forever home out west, but for a large senior pit in an area overwhelmed with overcrowded shelters and rescue organizations maxed out, there were no alternative fosters or adopters. Fortunately, we were able to transport Mable from California to New Jersey to her permanent home. The trip was long and costly but very much worth it!
We are so grateful to have Mable as the newest member of our pack. Sadly, shortly after arriving, she was diagnosed with mast cell cancer. She has several tumors that, without surgical removal, will continue to grow and spread. The good news is that her veterinarian is optimistic—if the tumors are surgically removed, Mable is likely to be cancer-free.
Mable is still very energetic, affectionate, and full of life and so much love. You would never know that she is 11 years old! With proper treatment, she can have happy years ahead. And, so, we are humbly asking for any support you may be able to give to help cover the cost of her surgery, which is estimated to be $2,400. Given the transport and other expenses to support Mable since August, we cannot manage this surgery on our own. Even small contributions make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing Mable’s story would mean just as much.
Thank you for helping us give this sweet girl the healthy, peaceful future she deserves.
