When Mabel was born, she was treated for a urinary tract infection per the vet’s diagnosis and sent to her new home. Because the area was not kept clean and dry, it caused some of the tissue surrounding her “lady parts” to literally be burnt off. As her groomer, I noticed in the four months of her life, there was no change in her condition. I offered to take her to ensure she received the care that she needed.
After meeting with three different vets, it’s been determined that Mabel has a genetic defect called ectopic ureter (in short terms- the tube that would lead to the bladder actually bypasses her bladder, causing pee to leak out of her constantly). The only way to help Mabel is with surgery.
The surgery to fix both ureters, as well as spaying her to ensure the genetic issues are not passed on, is going to cost $6800. The vet doing the surgery has generously cut the price of one of the surgeries in half. We are asking for help to raise this money to change the quality of Mabel’s life. Without the surgery, the vet recommended her to be euthanized because she eventually become immune to the antibiotics and won’t be able to fight off the infection. The vet is confident the surgery stop the leaking- ensuring Mabel lives a long, happy and healthy life.
Mabel is a normal, rambunctious, mischievous puppy, and we don’t want to see her life cut short because of this condition. We thank you for your consideration in helping to make Mabel strong and able.
Mabel lives in Sherman, Maine with her new Mom and Dad- Veronica and Mark. All funds donated will be used for Mabel’s surgery, and a quote of the amount is available to anyone requesting it. The money will be deposited into Veronica’s account and a check written directly to the vet in Scarborough. I’m Mabel’s aunt, Krystal. Thank you for your consideration ❤️
