Help Lyse Retrieve Her Car & Get Back on Her Feet
Donation protected
Hi all. I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my partner, who could use a little extra love and support this holiday season.
Those of you who know Lyseria have seen her strength and determination. Whether it be through her role as President of the South Bay Chapter for Pride at Work, her position in the Labor Council, or even her activism for the LGBTQIA+ community in both San Jose and in the building trades, she’s dedicated herself to making this world a brighter and safer place to live. Between a lack of work nearby for Book 2 (what unions consider "traveling" or moving for jobs as a building trade worker) for over a year, struggling to be added to the list of local workers (Book 1) in San Jose, and having been on disability for 8 months, she’s found herself in a rocky financial position that has reared its ugly head.
On Dec 27, she found out from her sister that her car was missing. Multiple phone calls and a lot of questions later, and she found out her car was repossessed after months of fighting with the bank over claims of no car insurance. Despite being able to get help covering the cost to bring her account with the bank current and release her car, she now faces a towing company that is closed for the holidays and is charging $75/day to hold it over the weekend on top of fees until she can pick it up. Furthermore, between this and still waiting for work to pick up she’s struggling to pull together the finances to pay rent this month. The stress from all of these factors has brought back pseudo seizures, a manifestation of psychological distress that resembles an epileptic seizure and something that she thought was behind her.
If you have the ability to do so, any donations would help immensely. If not, please share with your networks. The money will go towards getting her car back so she can be ready to work when calls come in, as well as helping cover her bills so she can get back on her feet again. If there is anything extra beyond those amounts, it will be donated to Pride at Work to help continue to fight for queer people in unions.
