In Loving Memory of Lyric Lewis

On June 24th, 2025, tragedy struck in the most unimaginable way. Lyric Jenae Lewis, our beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece, and friend, was murdered outside the Harkins Theatre in downtown Oklahoma City. Just weeks earlier, she had celebrated two major milestones: her high school graduation and her 18th birthday. That night, Lyric was out enjoying the city with friends, as thousands across Oklahoma celebrated the NBA Championship win.

At approximately 11:45 PM, gunfire erupted in the theatre parking lot. A gunman in a hoodie opened fire into a crowd. Lyric was struck in the chest. The shooter fled the scene, leaving our sweet girl bleeding on the sidewalk.

Her brave and loving friends rushed her into a car and drove her to OU Medical Center just minutes away. Around midnight, her mother was awakened by frantic knocking at the door. A friend's mother delivered the heartbreaking news: Lyric had been shot and was in critical condition at the hospital. Despite desperate prayers during the agonizing drive, Lyric's mother was met by a hospital chaplain who delivered the unthinkable news - her firstborn daughter and best friend was gone.

Lyric had recently graduated from Marshall High School and was preparing to attend community college this fall. Her shocking and senseless death has shattered her family and left her 9-year-old sister deeply heartbroken.

We are asking for support to help Lyric's family navigate this devastating loss. Your donations will go directly toward:

● Financial assistance to cover time away from work during this period of mourning.

● Relocation efforts.

● Grief counseling and therapy for Lyric's mother, father, and sister.

● Any remaining funeral and memorial expenses.

● Legal fees.

Any funds in excess of the family's needs will be donated to local organizations actively fighting gun violence in Oklahoma City. Police have already identified and arrested two individuals suspected to be involved. The family prays that with the public's and law enforcement's help, the remaining three suspects will be quickly apprehended.
