Help Lyra Become a Bionic Dog!

Donation protected

This year for Ross’s birthday we are coming together to give the gift of furry love and support him as he figures out Lyra’s next step (literally).
As most of you know, Ross spent a hefty amount of money this past fall so Lyra could have knee surgery. During that surgery, the vet informed him that Lyra would be needing a complete hip replacement in less than a year. After spending a few thousand dollars on her knee, the idea of spending $5000 more, less than 10 months later, is daunting to say the least. We all know that when you get a dog you must be prepared for the unforeseen, to expect that they will take your money in some fashion- but this amount of money, in this short of a time, for a dog who is less than three years old! Ross is having a difficult time figuring out what to do, and whether or not he can keep her.  So, I am reaching out to you all for support. For his birthday on May 22nd I want to surprise him with this GoFundMe page and have all of us help make his decision easier!

This has been an extremely stressful and emotional situation and Ross will be so grateful to have family and friends support him and his furry little creature. Any amount helps! So far for the $5000 surgery we have about $500-$800 potentially committed by PAWS and the adoption agency in Jackson. The type of surgery that Lyra receives will depend on the amount of money we are able to raise. The cheaper option is to amputate her leg. Just kidding. It is to shave off the top of her femur. I know, much better. FHO surgery  is typically for smaller dogs so we are unsure if Lyra even qualifies, she is at the highest end of the recommended weight limit for the surgery (she’s a thick dog). This option, which is around $1500-$2500, would allow Ross to keep her, but severely limit her ability for adventure. As Ross puts it, she would be retired to a “lifestyle” dog, at the prime age of 3…

So, the ideal option is to be able to pay for the complete hip replacement, which means paying out $5000.

I recognize given the economic situation and the global pandemic that it is not an ideal time to be asking for money. Lyra doesn’t seem to get this when I’ve talked to her about it. Know that any amount that you can give towards her surgery is so incredibly appreciated and it all helps. For those of you who know Lyra personally, she is...something. Not quite a dog, more like a pig/goat/bat/bear. But we love her. And would like to be able to keep her and offer the highest quality of life possible. If Ross cannot afford the surgery he would most likely have to give her up for adoption (which, let's be real, I cannot imagine (even in Jackson) who would adopt a dog knowing she needs a $5000 surgery).  So, if you are able to support the cause, Lyra will be forever grateful and will be sure to show it in farts. And I know Ross will be grateful as well. Let’s show him some birthday love and help him pay for Lyra’s hip surgery!!!

All those who donate will receive a personalized thank you with an adorable photo of Lyra, and an exclusive video of her licking her butt. And of course, the satisfaction that you have given a goat/pig/bat/bear a lifetime of butt licking.

Thank you!!!!
