In Memory of Lynn Noel - Giving Back to Her
Donation protected
Following a massive heart attack on February 9th, Lynn has undergone 3 major surgeries and is currently on life support and kidney dialysis. Lynn has always been a pillar of giving to others in our community and now it's our turn to give back to her. She has a long road of recovery ahead and will need substantial physiotherapy, long-term care and a new place to live. Your financial support will go directly towards Lynn's care and future home accommodations. Her family would like to extend their undying gratitude for the huge outpouring of love and support at this very difficult time. Thank you for giving back to Lynn when she needs us most.
FULL STORY:
On Sunday February 9th, 2020, Lynn suffered a massive heart attack in her home. She was rushed by ambulance to the Ottawa Heart Institute where she was immediately operated on to have a stent put in. Lynn remained in critical condition in hospital for over two weeks where she was closely monitored by a fantastic team of Heart Specialists. They were trying to remove blood and fluids that were building up around her heart and lungs. They wanted her to be as strong as possible for the high risk surgery that lay ahead; Lynn had a very large hole in her heart which had to be repaired. On February 24th Lynn had her second surgery.
Miraculously Lynn made it through the 7 hour surgery. Unfortunately the next day they discovered she had a build up of blood clots in her left hand/arm. Lynn was again taken back into surgery for the third time. It appears that it was a success as her hand which was blue and cold is now looking better. As of right now Lynn is on life support and kidney dialysis. She has a rough road to recovery but along with everyone’s well wishes and prayers she is proving to be a fighter.
Anyone that knows Lynn can attest to the fact that her life's passion has been helping others - whether it be fundraising for the less fortunate, helping grant children’s wishes, overseeing programs for seniors or teaching students. Her whole life she has dedicated her time through many different non-profit organizations. The following are just a few of the great places Lynn has worked over the years.
* Director of the Ottawa Food Bank
* The Caldwell Family Center where she taught English as a second language
* St. Joe's Women's Center which offers support, Community Resources and a drop-in centre for clients.
* The Children's Wish Foundation Ottawa Chapter, where she was a huge part of supporting families and heading fundraisers to help grant children’s wishes.
* St Patrick's retirement home of Ottawa.
* Events management program at Algonquin College.
Lynn and her husband Patrick are currently resident managers (hired as a team) for an apartment building in Ottawa, which includes, along with a salary, their living accommodations. Due to her serious illness she will no longer be able to do this job, and as a consequence both will lose their jobs and living accommodations.
Lynn has helped hundreds of people over decades through her work in Non-Profit Organizations. Right now it is LYNN that is in need of help.
This page has been set up in the hopes to help relieve some stress and financial burdens as she recuperates. She still remains in the Heart Institute and has many challenges to overcome on her road to recovery. She will require extensive physiotherapy, long-term care, as well as a place to live. The family would like to extend their undying gratitude for the huge outpour of love and support at this very difficult time.
