My name is Lynn, and I’m a preschool teacher with a passion for helping children. My 13-year-old son Fritz and I have a unique opportunity to spend a month in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, volunteering at a community center called Flourishing Future. This center was started by my sister Susan, who served as a missionary in Mongolia for over 15 years. We’re excited to give back to the community she helped build, and to connect with family we have never met or seen in many years.
During our stay, we will be volunteering with different community outreach programs and teaching English to local families. Fritz, who is a successful freestyle wrestler, will be offering open gym nights at the community center, giving local kids a chance to play soccer or wrestle—activities that are a big part of Mongolian culture. We’re also looking forward to meeting my adopted nieces and nephews, who are now adults living in Mongolia.
We’re budgeting for airfare (~$3500), train travel (~$400), and lodging (~$3000) during our month-long stay from August 21 to September 22. This trip is especially meaningful for us, as my husband Ted and I always dreamed of doing a mission trip as a family. Life moved quickly, and now with a middle schooler and a high schooler, I feel the time with my boys slipping through my fingers. With Fritz delaying his high school enrollment and my flexible work schedule, we finally have the chance to make this dream a reality. While Ted and our older son Sterling aren’t able to join us this year, we hope to plan another mission trip in the future that will include them.
Fritz and I have an exciting opportunity and would like to ask you to help us make it happen. Your support would mean the world to us and help us make a difference for children and families in Ulaanbaatar. Thank you for considering being part of our journey!
