Our mom (also known as Lynn or Mimi) has spent the last two years navigating one of the most aggressive forms of bladder cancer — micropapillary urothelial carcinoma — with strength, clarity, and unwavering resolve. She has undergone every standard treatment available to her in the U.S.: surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and the most advanced targeted therapies currently offered. Unfortunately, none have stopped the progression of the disease. Sadly, she also does not meet criteria for any open trials in the U.S.
At this point, her care team has acknowledged there are no remaining conventional options with curative intent. And while the shift toward comfort-focused care is appropriate from a medical standpoint, it does not fully reflect who our mother is, or how she wishes to approach this chapter.
We are now seeking to send her to a clinic outside the U.S. that offers integrative and precision-based therapies designed for patients who have exhausted standard protocols but still wish to pursue treatment. The treatment center’s approach is highly personalized, drawing from advanced immune therapies, NK cell infusions, and molecularly targeted protocols. These treatments are not FDA-approved and are considered investigational. We understand that. We also understand that conventional medicine’s limitations do not define the full scope of what perseverance, care, hope, or courage can mean.
This is not about chasing miracles. It’s about giving her the chance to explore another path, as she still feels deeply connected to life. She wants more time with her family and her friends. More trips to California. More exercise classes. More hide and seek. She wants to see her grandchildren grow into who they’re becoming. We know the time may be limited, so if there is a way to make more of it, it is worth everything to us.
We are hoping to raise $55,000 to cover the cost of travel, treatment, housing, and comfort for her and one support person to go abroad. These therapies are not covered by insurance. While we wish we didn’t need to ask for help, we have learned that some things are simply too important to go through alone.
If you are able to contribute, we are deeply grateful. If you cannot give, your messages, your presence, and your willingness to walk beside us in this mean just as much.
Thank you for helping us make space for one more step, one more effort, and one more expression of love in action.
With all our gratitude,
