Fire recovery for the Knudsen family

On Monday, September 14, Lynn and Rob Knudsen and their children were awakened to their house in flames. Thankfully, everyone made it out safely, including the dogs. The West Des Moines fire department quickly responded but the house suffered major damage.
We want to help our dear friends Lynn and Rob. Several rooms of the house are a complete loss. The rest of the home is covered in black soot and water. They are not able to return to get anything right now. Lynn, Rob, Michael, and Thomas are staying at a hotel. Robert and Elisabeth are at Iowa State University.
We would like to raise money to help with their expenses during this terrible time. Things are very uncertain for them right now, including figuring out where they will be staying for the next 3-4 months. They will have to find replacements for all the things they lost but need -- like clothes, shoes, personal items, dishes, linens, pet food, and the list goes on. Thinking about all the things you use in a day is mind-boggling.
Although insurance will eventually come through right now they will have man unplanned costs. Eating out at a restaurant and staying in a hotel can become very expensive very quickly. We all know that Lynn and Rob would be the first in line to help with anything.
The hardest part about a fire in your home has to be the loss of things that can't be replaced. So many memories go up in smoke when photos burn. All of those crafts that your kids made when they were in preschool cannot be replaced. Your grandma's quilts, your uncle's uniform that he wore in WWII, your mom's secret family spaghetti sauce recipe...they are all things you can't bring back. But Lynn and Rob know that they have something in all of us. True friends that are there during the happy times and the rough times. They are so touched by your outpouring of support and love.
2020 has been such a crazy year for the Knudsens — this is the last thing they needed! Thank you so much for your donations.
