Help me Remove Dangerous Mold from my Basement

Our Story

Hello, my name is Lynette Malone, and I'm reaching out to our community for help with a serious health hazard and structural damage in my home.

I'm embarrassed to ask and I'm terrified.

My son discovered extensive black mold growth in my basement that is threatening the structural integrity of my home. It is already on the subfloor. I’m terrified that it will destroy my home. I do not go to the basement because of the stairs without a handrail, so I did not see the mold until it was too late. I have a problem with falling.

What I’ve Done So Far

Received estimates from mold remediation specialists.

Attempted to contain the spread by cleaning with the recommended vinegar and wiping down. It looked a lot worse before we wiped the walls down, but vinegar is not a long-term solution.

Unfortunately, the cost of proper mold remediation is beyond what I can currently afford. (I live on a small fixed income.) After getting multiple quotes, we're looking at approximately $6,700 for complete remediation.

Why We Need Help

- Replacing some of the subflooring

- Addressing the underlying moisture issues causing the mold

- Air quality testing after the remediation

- A new sump pump

We're aiming to raise $6,700 to cover the costs of professional mold remediation and necessary repairs. As time goes by, the damage gets worse.
