We are raising funds to help Lyndzey receive a special hair treatment that will make a big difference in her daily life and confidence.
Lyndzey has a condition called Trichotillomania (Trich)—an impulse control disorder where, despite not wanting to, she feels compelled to pull her hair. She has been struggling with Trich since age 7, and over the years it has worsened. In the past two months especially, the pulling has become more severe, and we’ve been told that if it continues, she may develop traction alopecia, meaning her hair may not grow back.
This has taken a toll on her confidence and caused her significant anxiety, especially since she participates in dance and 4H, where being on stage and feeling comfortable is so important.
Because Lyndzey is what’s called a “Trich Grazer” (pulling hair from different spots rather than one area), she requires a more intensive treatment—a cranial prosthesis topper. This special hairpiece sits on top of the head, protecting her natural hair from pulling while giving her the look and feel of a full head of hair. It’s a less invasive option that will allow her to approach everyday life with confidence and hope.
We’ve partnered with New Beginnings Hair Salon in Sugar Land, who have been incredibly supportive and professional in helping us find the best match for Lyndzey’s needs. The cost of this treatment is $750 for the initial hairpiece.
We are asking for your help to reach this goal. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Lyndzey’s story and for supporting her journey toward healing and confidence.
With love and gratitude,
Jennett & the Bowen Family
