Lyndsay Sweeney Ward is a fighter. She has faced more struggles in the past few years than most of us could imagine—and now, during what should be a season of joy and togetherness, she’s bravely battling for her life again.
Lyndsay’s journey has been marked by unimaginable challenges. Her first diagnosis of poorly differentiated squamous carcinoma cervical cancer—a rare and aggressive form—came at just 41 years old, only five years after losing her own mother to cancer. She endured grueling treatments: six rounds of chemotherapy and 25 sessions of radiation, all during the isolating days of COVID. She fought through it all, even as she feared leaving her then 9-year-old son motherless.
Despite her strength and courage, Lyndsay’s fight didn’t end there. After initially being declared NED (No Evidence of Disease), her world was turned upside down by what was thought to be a recurrence. Lyndsay and her family faced the fear and stress of another diagnosis and even paid out of pocket to cross the border for scans to confirm the return of cancer. Thankfully, it turned out to be a misdiagnosis, but the emotional and financial toll was devastating.
Unfortunately, her battle wasn’t truly over. Lyndsay’s cancer has returned for real, and this time it’s more aggressive than ever. A 9cm tumor has invaded her lung, pressed against her heart, and spread to lymph nodes in her chest. The tumor is inoperable, and she is now beginning chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy in the hope of shrinking it.
As Lyndsay and her family face another round of treatment, they are also facing the financial strain that comes with it. Critical illness insurance, which helped support the family during her earlier battle, is a one-time payout. Now, her husband has had to leave work to care for Lyndsay and their son. The mounting medical bills, travel expenses, and everyday costs have placed an enormous financial burden on the family, especially during the holiday season.
This holiday season, we’re asking for your help to give Lyndsay and her family the gift of support and hope. Donations will not only ease the financial strain but also allow Lyndsay’s family to focus on spending precious time together. Every dollar raised will go toward medical bills, household expenses, and creating a semblance of holiday magic in an otherwise incredibly difficult time.
The holidays are a time for giving—a time to come together and show love and kindness to those in need. Lyndsay has fought so hard for so long. Let’s show her and her family that they are not alone in this fight.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. If you cannot donate, please share this page with others. Your generosity will bring light and hope to a family that truly needs it this holiday season.
Thank you for being part of Lyndsay’s journey and for giving the gift of support this Christmas.
