In January of 2021 our mom Lynda felt a lump on her right breast. She didn’t say anything to anyone right away because she was scared and was really hoping it was nothing. Then in February she noticed it wasn’t going away and it was getting bigger. She then knew she had to tell someone so she told Tom that something wasn’t right and that she needed to get checked out.
Tom made an appointment with her doctor the next day to have it looked at. Without even doing an exam the doctor knew something wasn’t right and that she needed to have a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy right away.
Four days later Lynda was in Duluth having tests done. She was very nervous but handled everything very well. After all the tests were donethe waiting game began. March 4th 2021 will be a day we will never forget. Our mom Lynda who has never been sick or ever had any health problems got that dreadful call telling her that she had mestastic breast cancer and that it had spread to her lymph nodes.
After the initial shock wore off it was time to get everything rolling with who should be her doctor and where should she receive treatment. After discussing everything with Tom, Sarah and I my mom decided to receive treatment and doctor in Bemidji.
Lynda will need to receive at least 20 rounds of chemotherapy and then surgery followed with radiation and maybe more chemotherapy. She just started her treatment so she has a very long hard road ahead of her.
We are starting this go fund me account for our mom to help with travel and medical expenses.
Tom also was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer so he will be traveling for doctors appointments and treatment as well.
