If you know our mom, Lyn, you know her smile. You know her kindness. You know that no matter what she was facing, she showed up for others first.
Lyn spent - good portion of her life serving children as a Special Education teacher, pouring her heart into helping kids who needed extra patience, encouragement, and love. She never treated it as just a job — it was her calling. Beyond the classroom, she volunteered and assisted in programs that tough and encouraged children who had disabilities. She gave her time freely and joyfully, never asking for anything in return.
As a mother, she was our foundation. Fiercely dedicated, endlessly supportive, and always putting her children first — no matter the cost. She never backed down from a challenge, especially when it came to protecting and loving her family.
In 2013, our lives changed forever.
After suddenly collapsing, she was initially diagnosed with a stroke and nearly lost her life. We later were told she didn’t have a strokes d they weren’t sure what was happening. Three weeks later, while she was still in a coma, another doctor discovered the true cause — a severe case of diverticulitis that had gone undetected, turning septic and leading to partial organ failure. That doctor quite literally saved her life through two emergency surgeries.
But survival came at a tremendous cost.
Our mom spent six months in a coma. When she finally woke up, she had lost the ability to walk. The muscle and strength in her legs were gone. She would never drive again. Everything about her daily life changed. In her eyes, she was in the hospital overnight because that’s how it felt. But showing her the date on a cell phone and from a newspaper finally convinced her of the true time that had passed while she was in her comatose state at the hospital.
And yet — she was grateful.
Grateful to be alive. Grateful for her family. Grateful for every extra day she was given.
Since then, she has endured five additional surgeries related to the complications from that initial medical crisis. Three of those surgeries have taken place just within the last month, and they have come with serious complications. Her body has been through more than most could imagine.
Right now, she is resting. She is fighting. She continues to tell us she will be okay — because that’s who she is. But her body is tired. It has endured so much, and the odds are not in her favor.
Lyn has spent her entire life lifting others up. Now, we are asking for help to lift her.
We are praying for a miracle and asking you to join us in those prayers. At the same time, we are facing overwhelming medical expenses and preparing for the very real possibility of end-of-life costs. Our goal is to raise funds to help cover mounting medical bills and to ensure she is cared for with dignity, comfort, and peace.
We understand that times are difficult for many. Any contribution — no matter how big or small — means more than we can express. If you’re unable to give financially, your prayers, kind words, and sharing this page are deeply appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Thank you for loving our mom. And thank you for walking alongside us during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Her family
