My name is Pamala, and I am asking for help for my 22-year-old son, Lyle. Lyle was recently diagnosed with myeloid sarcoma, a rare and serious cancer, and our family is still trying to process how quickly life has changed. We are waiting on additional bone marrow pathology results, so there are still many unanswered questions about what his full diagnosis and treatment plan will look like. What we do know is that his doctors have told him he cannot work right now and needs to stay off his hip as much as possible because of the risk of fracture and collapse of the affected bone. For someone who loves the outdoors, hiking, exploring, and being in nature, this has been especially hard. He is used to being active and independent, and now he is facing something no 22-year-old should have to face.
Lyle works at an assisted living facility in Bandon, Oregon, but because of his diagnosis and doctor’s orders, he is unable to earn an income as he prepares to begin treatment. In the weeks ahead, he may need chemotherapy, possibly radiation, and even hip surgery, but we still do not know exactly what the road ahead will be. In the meantime, he still has everyday expenses like rent, his car payment, food, transportation, and other basic needs. I will be managing these funds for him so I can help make sure he is supported while he focuses on his health. How you can help: your donation will go toward Lyle’s basic living expenses during this uncertain time. Any amount, even $5 or $10, would mean so much to our family. If you are not able to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Lyle in your thoughts and prayers. We are deeply grateful for any support.
