Lyla will be 4 in May, and we are trying to get her some intensive therapy that isn’t covered by insurance. The therapy is 45 minutes away every day, and with only one income, even gas money is a challenge. We want to give Lyla every opportunity to grow and thrive, but right now, we need some extra help to make it possible.
This therapy could have a huge impact on Lyla’s life. After a free evaluation, the therapist believes Lyla will be able to walk if she gets stronger. The therapy would be 3 hours, 3 days a week for 5 weeks, and then 5 days a week for 5 weeks, 3 hours a day, on top of all her other therapies. We are hopeful that by the end of it, we’ll be one step closer to walking. Our short-term goals are to help her build strength in her core and neck, which will allow her to sit on her own and get closer to walking. More than anything, we want Lyla to have a better quality of life, where she can play with her cousins and friends. She also struggles with digestive issues that her GI doctor believes could be solved if she gains more core strength. We’ve learned from other moms that this therapy isn’t available once she reaches a certain weight, and she only has 5 lbs to go. Lyla gains about 1 lb every 4-6 months.
We’ve never really asked for money before for Lyla’s journey, but this is something we can’t do without your help. There will also be several fundraisers and we’re applying for grants, but with one income we’re only just getting by.
