Hi, Meet Lyla
Earlier this year, after fevers, tummy pain, and repeated doctor visits, her parents John and Kayla received news no parent is ready for: Lyla was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and treatment and surgery would be complex and intense.
Since that day, everything has changed. Lyla has gone through months of chemotherapy to shrink the tumor, with appointments multiple times a week. She then faced a 7-hour surgery and spent 20 days in the hospital post-surgery, unable to leave her room while her care team and parents worked around the clock to get Lyla stable enough to complete recovery in the comfort of her own home. Lyla has been hooked up to lines and monitors while her little body tries to recover. Lyla has endured an epidural, IVs, blood pressure monitoring, NG tubes, getting nutrition only through IV and being unable to eat for over a week, low-grade fevers, and a Foley catheter. She has come a long way and still has a long road ahead.
Lyla is still in active recovery from surgery and has to remain under close observation at home, monitoring her health and providing round-the-clock medications to ensure her body is continuing its recovery process. Lyla has now continued treatment, including more chemotherapy, with an upcoming outpatient procedure.
John and Kayla have been by her side through it all—long days and nights in the hospital, constant appointments, and endless conversations with oncology, surgery, and other specialists. It has taken a huge emotional toll on their family.
They are not the type to ask for help, so I’m asking for them.
Your donation will help this family stay afloat while they walk through one of the hardest chapters of their lives. Funds will go toward expenses, daily living costs, and the support needed to keep John and Kayla by Lyla’s side as much as possible.
If you’re able to give, please know that no amount is too small. If you can’t donate, sharing this page and keeping Lyla and her family in your thoughts and prayers still means so much.
Thank you for helping give this family some breathing room so they can focus on what matters most: helping Lyla heal.
