On Friday night, our family’s world changed.
Following the devastating incident on Friday night, police are investigating the cause of the fire at my sister’s café, Lydia’s of Market Street. The fire completely destroyed the café’s beautiful outdoor garden area – a space she had poured her heart, soul, and savings into creating.
We are incredibly grateful to the firefighters who responded so quickly and professionally. Their courage and swift actions prevented the fire from spreading further and undoubtedly saved the café itself from even more devastating damage. We cannot thank them enough for everything they did.
Anyone who knows Lydia knows this café isn’t just a business. It’s the result
of hard work, determination, and countless early mornings and late nights. Every improvement has been made with love, creating a welcoming place where the local community could enjoy great food, coffee, and company.
To see so much of that hard work destroyed in a matter of minutes is absolutely heartbreaking.
While insurance may help with some of the costs, it won’t cover everything, and rebuilding takes time. Every day the café can’t operate as it should is another financial blow to a small independent business that has worked so hard to become part of the community.
That’s why I’m asking for your help.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards:
* Rebuilding the damaged garden area.
* Replacing furniture, fixtures, and equipment destroyed in the fire.
* Helping cover lost income while essential repairs are carried out.
* Making the café safe, welcoming, and beautiful once again.
If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this page would mean the world to us. Every share helps spread Lydia’s story further and brings us one step closer to helping this much-loved local business recover.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time. Together, we can help Lydia’s of Market Street rebuild, reopen, and continue serving the community that has supported it from the very beginning.
From our family, and from Lydia, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
