Hey everyone this is Lydias husband Chaz. Lydia has been my soulmate and my best friend and she is the most important person in the world to me. We spend lots of time together and these last three years we've been married have been some of the best years of my life.
Some of the things Lydia and I have been passionate about has been being outside including backpacking, river rafting, and currently this winter, we've been skiing at our local ski resort in Whitefish Montana.
On Sunday January 25th Lydia and I had spent the morning skiing and after eating a lunch to warm up we were winding down getting ready to leave. We descended down the mountain and Lydia hit a patch of ice before spinning out and crashing headfirst into a tree.
Luckily the ski patrol arrived quickly, but it was taking a while to get her able to be transported to a medical care facility. After strapping her into a sled, I was informed she would be taking a helicopter ride to the hospital and her vitals were declining. She was having trouble breathing and her heart rate was falling to dangerous levels.
After being life flighted to Kalispell hospital, the prognosis was a dislocated shoulder, multiple bone and spine fractures, a concussion, bruised lungs, and a cut liver among other injuries.
In the days weeks and months ahead Lydia is going to need help and support. She's going to be walking today January 26th 2026 and she's lucky to be alive and will recover with time. We are asking for 7,000 to cover her extended care for the next 3 months and she will be out of work for the foreseeable future. We have a small savings but nothing to cover for this catastrophic injury Lydia has sustained.
In the coming weeks help with meals will also be encouraged and appreciated. We will keep everyone informed and appreciate words of encouragement and healing prayers sent. Thank you so much everyone.
