Hi everyone,

My name is Lydia, and at 26 years old, I never imagined I would be writing something like this.

Recently, after undergoing surgery to remove my thymus gland and a growth found in my chest, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin's lymphoma, a treatable kind of blood cancer.

Over the coming months, I will be recieving chemotherapy and my focus will be on treatment, recovery, and giving myself the best possible chance to get well.

Unfortunately, cancer doesn't just affect your health—it affects every part of your life. Due to my length of service with my employer, I am only eligible for half pay while I am off work for treatment and recovery. This means my monthly income will be approximately £900 before tax.

I contribute to half of the household bills, and after essential living costs, my reduced income simply isn't enough to cover everything. The financial pressure is becoming a significant source of stress at a time when I need to focus on my health.

I have always tried to be independent and support myself, so asking for help is not something that comes easily to me. However, I am creating this fundraiser to help cover:

. Household bills and rent

. Essential living expenses

. Travel costs to hospital appointments and treatment

. Any unexpected expenses that arise during treatment and recovery

Any contribution, no matter how small, would make a huge difference and help relieve some of the financial burden while I undergo treatment.
