Lydia (3 1/2) and Daphne (6 months) are two adorable little girls who have ended up in a tough situation. Unfortunately, due to their parents having recently discovered lead contamination in their new home, these adorable girls have lost all of their clothing, books and toys as it isn't possible to be certain they have been fully decontaminated. The certified lead inspectors and health department officials we've spoken with say it MAY be possible to eventually decontaminate some things, but especially fabrics and other porous materials can likely never be cleaned enough to avoid further exposure for the girls. Lead remains in the body forever, settling into the bones and the brain, and can have serious and long-term health effects, especially for children this young.
With Christmas coming up, and their parents having to deal with the expenses involved in getting out of the situation that caused this contamination in the first place, we're asking for help to be able to be sure these girls are clothed, and that they get some Christmas presents this year. Especially for Lydia, who is old enough to think that no presents from Santa might mean she's been bad this year. We want to be sure that they have a wonderful Christmas, and that they have all of the things they need day to day without having to risk further lead contamination. We are asking you to help these little girls have a Merry Christmas, and a happy and SAFE new year. Please give what you can, and if you can't afford to give anything right now, please spread the word so that others might be able to. These girls have lost everything they had due to circumstances beyond theirs or their parents' control
All funds will go straight to the family, even though others are helping to organize this fundraiser.
