Luzdary Domínguez is my aunt who lives on a farm in Tuluá Colombia. It has been her passion to help others since she was little. About 20 years ago she started her own foundation, Una Patica en tu Corazón (a paw in your heart), where she would rescue dogs and cats off the streets that were in very bad health conditions. She would take them to the veterinarian, get them healed, then try and get them adopted and if not she would raise them on her family farm. She has been doing this for over 20 years and she currently has 82 dogs that live on the farm and 20 that live at home with her. The dogs that are at home are there because they aren’t strong enough either from malnutrition or other health issues so she takes care of them at home until they are healed and strong enough to get adopted or go to the farm and play and live along side the other dogs. My aunt gets no help from any private company or government agencies, the veterinarians do help with procedures at a lower than usual cost but still not free. She has founded this foundation with pure passion and mainly from her own resources. I went to Colombia this past month, December, and got to visit her families farm for the first time. I was able to witness the beauty that goes into the work that they do in taking care of all these animals and it is seen in the expressions of all the animals this is truly a paradise for them. It’s not because they are rich in fact they aren’t and sometimes struggle to feed so many rescue animals, it is because they do everything with love and pure intentions. The dogs swim in the river, run in the fields, wrestle with each other, they have shelter with beds to sleep in, they are all looked out for throughly. In spite of there being 82 dogs in the farm and 20 at her house each dog has a name and a piece of my aunts heart. When she first began she was capable of taking care of 20 dogs on her own, now with over 100 dogs she’s humbly and kindly asking for the help of anyone and in any amount or way that you possibly can. Any contribution whether small or large goes a long way and I can assure you that all contributions are directly for the animals and only for them, my aunt is angel with a very pure heart and she immensely appreciates any help and thanks you all from her soul.
