Support for Luz Rodriguez: Medical Expenses and a Replacement Vehicle

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

On the morning of August 15th, our beloved friend and colleague, Luz M. Rodriguez, faced an unexpected and devastating accident. As she was driving to work, a driver trying to beat a traffic light collided with her car, hitting the left side with such force that all the airbags deployed. The collision was severe enough to deploy all the airbags, resulting in multiple bruises, chest and back pain, fractured fingers, and loose teeth from the impact. Her 2014 Chevy Cruze was so badly damaged that smoke was pouring from the hood, rendering it a total loss.

Thankfully, a Good Samaritan was able to help Luz out of the wreckage, and she is incredibly grateful to her. Unfortunately, the insurance investigation has revealed that the other driver was uninsured. Currently, the insurance company has valued her car and offered her a mere $5,000 for her totaled vehicle, which falls significantly short of covering the value of the car and her immediate needs.

In light of these circumstances, we are reaching out to our community for support. We are aiming to raise $10,000 to help Luz with:

- Covering out-of-pocket costs for physical therapy and ongoing medical care as she recovers from her injuries.

- Assisting with the down payment for a used car, which is crucial for her to get to work and manage weekly physical therapy sessions and doctor appointments.

Luz has been a dedicated and caring presence in our lives for many years. She has always gone above and beyond, sharing her love, creativity, and time with students, teachers, and everyone around her. Whether it's organizing special projects, celebrations, or simply lending a helping hand, she always manages to find the time.
