I’ve been going back and forth about writing this because part of me still doesn’t want to believe this is actually happening. My name is Megan, I am Luz Omaira’s daughter.

On the morning of Tuesday, July 8th, I rushed my mom to the emergency room because she was having trouble breathing. When we got there, things seemed okay at first. She was admitted quickly and put on oxygen and medications. It looked like things were improving.

Suddenly, everything changed.

Her condition declined faster than I could even process and she went into respiratory arrest, which then led to cardiac arrest. It was the scariest moment of my life. Thankfully, because of the quick actions of the doctors and nurses, they were able to restart her heart and stabilize her.

She’s now in the ICU, on a ventilator to help her breathe, and sedated so they can run all the necessary tests. We don’t know yet what’s ahead or how long her recovery will take, but we’re staying hopeful.

My mom means the world to my brother and I, my daughters and our family. She’s been a huge part of our daily lives and a constant support system. Many people know her through her small home business that she’s run and poured her heart into for years.

She’s one of the most hardworking, giving and loving people I know. She is an amazing mother who has given my brother and I an amazing life, and who loves her grandchildren more than life itself. She is an exceptional daughter, who devoted her life to her parents. She is the rock for her siblings and they love her immensely. Shes a staple in our family.

Now, everything is up in the air. With her unable to work, bills are already starting to pile up. I’m trying to keep everything afloat; working full time, taking care of my girls, and now stepping into the role of her caregiver too. It’s overwhelming, and I’m doing everything I can, God is working hard to help us through, but I will also need all the help I can get.

That’s why I’m asking for your help.

Your donations will go toward covering her medical expenses, her day-to-day bills, and helping ease some of the stress I’m carrying right now so I can focus on being there for her recovery and for my kids.

Even if you can’t donate, your prayers, kind words, and support mean so much. My daughters miss their grandma more than I can put into words, they ask about her constantly, wondering when she’s coming home. We all just want her to heal and come back to us.
