Hello friends! My name is Vanessa and I am starting this gofundme for my sister Lupita Hernandez and our longtime dog Negra Modelo. On Valentines Day 2025, Lupita came home from a long shift and noticed her 11 year old dog had vomit multiple times and wasn't feeling too well. The next day Lupita kept a watchful eye and was able to feed her boiled chicken and pumpkin puree, but unfortunately she took a turn for the worst on Sunday night and was rushed to the vet clinic and ultimately the emergency vet hospital on Monday morning.

Negra was admitted at VCA Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists with acute kidney failure, and frightening electrolyte and glucose levels. As a family we made the difficult decision to pursue treatment and not give up on our old girl. We are grateful to God as she has shown improvement in the last 12 hours, sadly, she is not in the clear yet and the vet has advised us to continue treatment until she is more stable to come home.

Having all grown up with Negra, it was easy for all of our family members to make the choice to chip in what we had in order to try and help save Negra. What was not easy was realizing that although there looks like a light at the end of the tunnel, it may be much more costly than we are able to afford at the time. Our current $ goal would cover another night of stay at the veterinary hospital as well as the estimated price of future tests. We have faith that with the proper treatment Negra will be back to cuddling with her "little" brother rocky in no time.
