Hi, I’m Lupita. I am a mother, curandera, and founder of Yolia Botánica, a sacred healing space rooted in Mexican folk medicine and community power. I live and work on occupied Tohono O’odham land, also known as Tucson, Arizona.

Over the years, I’ve dedicated myself to helping others: offering limpias, hosting free workshops, creating sacred tools for spiritual healing, and supporting social justice efforts across the globe and in my own community such as undocumented families and survivors of different types of violence.

But today, I’m the one who needs support. And asking for help like this is one of the most gut wrenching things I’ve ever done.

Why I’m Fundraising

I’m fighting for my life on two legal fronts: a divorce after years of narcissistic abuse, psychological manipulation, stalking, and surveillance, and a criminal case tied to the repeated violations I endured behind closed doors: to my privacy, my body, my mind, and my autonomy. These aren’t just legal matters they’re about survival, sovereignty, and breaking the cycle that has silenced women like me for generations.

This divorce and the criminal case tied to it are not just mine to carry, they are the echoes of what my abuelas carried in silence. I am choosing to walk differently. To name what was done, to reclaim my spirit, to protect my children, and to honor the generations that endured before me.

And if speaking my truth makes me sound evil, manipulative, or crazy to those who benefitted from my silence...may that discomfort be their own to carry.

I’m no longer staying quiet to keep others comfortable. I’m choosing truth, safety, and justice for myself, for my sons, and for those who never had the chance.

I’m raising funds to cover:

-Emergency move-in costs and a 3-month rent buffer so I can secure housing without being penalized for my current income

-$8,500 divorce attorney retainer (not including added costs as the case progresses)

-$8,500+ criminal defense attorney retainer

-Basic survival needs like groceries, utilities, and child care

-Therapy and spiritual support to stay grounded while navigating all of this

I’m currently carrying these burdens alone while running a storefront, raising two boys, and trying to process the heartbreak and betrayal of it all. The expenses are overwhelming, and the emotional toll is greater than words can describe.

Why This Matters

I’ve resisted asking for help because I didn’t want to be seen as weak or dramatic. But I know that’s the voice of a system that teaches women like me, especially first-gen, brown, immigrant women...that survival should be silent. I just want to feel safe again.

This is a nerve-racking move, but I do it in the name of all the abuelas and ancestors who endured what I’ve endured and were called crazy, liars, or unstable. I carry them with me in every court filing, every prayer, and every decision I make for my boys.

I am not seeking revenge.

I am seeking justice, peace, and a safe home to raise my children.

I am fighting for my well-being, for my future, and for the right to live without fear.
