My darling cat Luni has been very unwell and needs surgery to recover. She’s had recurring bladder infections and UTIs since I adopted her four years ago, and now she’s developed bladder stones that are too large to pass naturally.

Because of how a cat’s urinary system works, untreated bladder stones can eventually cause a full blockage, leading to a buildup of toxins in the body, potential kidney damage, bladder rupture and can eventually be fatal. While Luni’s condition thankfully isn’t fatal yet, the only way to prevent it from becoming critical is through surgery (a cystotomy) to remove the stones.

For the past month, she’s been in pain and often quite distressed and has been urinating large amounts of blood. We’ve been back and forth to the vet as we tried to figure out what was going on, and after multiple appointments, tests, medications and an X-ray, we finally got a diagnosis and were able to schedule the surgery.

Whilst I am so relieved we have a diagnosis and a way forward, this hasn’t been a cheap ordeal. We’ve been billed $1100 in diagnostics already, and the surgery itself is quoted at $2500, which is the lowest cost I could find after calling around to multiple clinics and animal hospitals. This means that currently our total is looking like $3600.

It’s hard for me to ask for support, but due to my own personal health and life challenges as of late, I am struggling to cover this cost alone. I know many people are doing it tough right now, so I truly don’t expect anything — but if you’re in a place to contribute, even a few dollars would make a world of difference to us. Any funds donated will go directly towards the cost of Luni’s healthcare.

Luni is my favourite friend, my baby, my little shadow, and she’s held me together through many moments of chaos and heartache in the past years. I owe so much to this little angel and I just wanna see her happy and healthy again.
