This is Luna or how i call her Luni, Lunischnubli or Lunitoons and Fridolin aka Frido, Frodo or Schnubendu.

Unfortunately they are both very sick atm. I know as elderly cats (almost 12 years old) it is at some point inevitable that they will have some health issues but there is still so much life in them that i won’t give up on them.

Luni got her CKD diagnosis in late July of 2025 and Fridolin was diagnosed with CKD in April of this year. Since they’re siblings i was hoping for Fridolin not to get as sick as Luni, but unfortunately he went from stage 1 CKD to stage 2 in the span of 4 months. Luni was diagnosed in stage 4 (end stage).

Luni already gets all the treatment that is possibly there for a cat in end stage CKD. Subcutaneous fluids once a day, two times a day phosphate binders, toxin binders once a day and since she has multiple diseases due to the CKD, she also takes meds for HCM and a treatment every two days for her infected teeth (it could be fixed surgically but she wouldn’t survive any type of anaesthetics, so we try to prevent further decay by cleansing her gums and teeth regularly). With all those treatments, Luni is an angle herself. She tolerates EVERYTHING with grace, no hissing, biting, not even a paw up. I love her.

Fridolin however is big on autonomy (I know where he got that from ^^)and even tho he is very patient with me, subcutaneous fluids won’t be possible atm. He’s on phosphate and toxin binders just as luni but anything that requires taking pills or being grabbed is a big No for him. Since i gathered all the information i could when Luni was diagnosed, i know it is inevitable that Fridolin at some point needs to get subcutaneous fluids as well. I started training him with LOADS of treats when he got diagnosed in april but till now he won’t tolerate anything longer than 10 seconds if he doesn’t want it to. I love him tho.

Now to the financial aspect. As a nurse in training i’m not getting paid enough to cover up both kitty treatments solely by myself. I receive some help from family and friends and i’m so thankful for that but since fridolin now needs intensive care as well i’m really worried for my own future as well.

Just to give you an idea what i pay for every month:

special CKD food is around 120€

meds (such as fluids, needles, dressings, pills) 117€

high calorie liquid supplements 30€ per week, 120€ in total

phosphate and toxin binders 40€

vet visits between 40-400€per cat (normally it’s 360€ for both if they’re not sick or need extra meds)

= 757€ p.m.

this does not include cleaning supplies, toilet stuff (which is around 80-90€ as well per month) or treats they get during treatment (another 50€ cause it needs to be CKD friendly).

I get 1100€ as a nurse in training and pay 600€ rent (electricity, insurance, internet, food, my meds etc not included). soooo…you see, it is not possible to care for my pets without any help from outside.

I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me, I just really want to be as transparent as possible to show you that i love and care for them more than anything else. They deserve to live, just as any other physical being on this planet and if that means I have to ask for help, i’ll gladly do that.

So to end my introduction: I can ensure that any and all money will be used solely for Luni and Fridolin to give them a better life with what they have left.

I am not one to ask for money, but I've been asked to give people an opportunity to help if they wish, and I don't want to deny Luna and Fridolin that possibility. It is appreciated beyond all comprehension.
