Help Luna with their Facial Feminization Surgery
Donation protected
Hello, thank you first of all for coming here and take the time to read this.
(for information about paypal payments please read at the bottom)
My name is Luna, I go by they/them pronouns and I made this gofundme because I need help. I am at the starting process to get my FFS surgery and the costs are very high. FFS stands for Facial Feminization Surgery, which is a term used to unify a number of procedures that reshape certain aspects of the face in order to tone down the masculine features.
I am non binary, that means that I don't identify as a man, but also not a women, then you might wonder. Why do I want FFS? Why don't I just stay like this? Well, non binary people appear in all spectrums of gender expression, from masculine, to feminine, to androgynous, to everything around it and outside of it. A lot of trans people just fear for them to be seen as the gender assigned at birth. Being in a very binary world, getting away from the gender assigned and transition towards the oposite sometimes is a relieve. For me, I don't need to pass as a woman but also, having so many masculine features make me feel as if my body is not in balance, and triggers me a lot of dysphoria. Gender dysphoria is the distress felt when my body doesn't match my gender identity. It's common that transgender people (trans women, trans men, trans non binary...) feel triggered by being misgendered and not treated by their correct gender by the way they look. Sometimes, makeup, clothes and other things are very helpful but not enough for trans people to feel that they're in peace, sometimes changes in the body are also necessary, as in my case.
I started Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) 7 months ago, and I already can feel the changes and I couldn't be happier. I saw that the need for me to look a certain way was already being covered by the hormones and I felt I was more in my own terms with my appearance.
I decided to do three procedures. First is the forehead contour, this means that they will shave down the frontal part of my forehead and make it smoother and lower. The second one will be a hair transplant, changing my M shaped forehead into a C shaped one. The third procedure will be to reshape my chin, from a square to a more pointy and sharp one. You might wonder why those, and not other things, why three things and not one, or five. My gender dysphoria is triggered mainly when I look at those things, I see myself as most masculine when I see my forehead or when I see my square chin. Also, studies have shown that the top 3rd of the face (meaning eyes and forehead) are the ones that people see first and gives most information about it. For me, having a less masculine forehead is vital for feeling seen and understood.
What I ask for would be to cover for the costs of the surgery, the hospital fees and the recovery costs. I am also saving up for this and will hopefully be able to add myself some, but also for some time I won't be able to work, and I can't cover my life expenses and my surgery all by myself.
Again thank you very much for everyone's time reading this and for all the generous donations, anything helps. With a donation of 20€ I could already get it covered by 1200 people. I think community is extremely important and I believe in people. But maybe you can't donate, maybe you're thinking of getting FFS yourself or are in a position where you also need money but you want to help, then sharing is also super important, the more people see this the more people will reach and maybe be able to donate. Share with your friends, with the queer allies, with anyone you can think of.
This would make great changes in my life and I would be totally thankful to all of you.
Here is the breakdown of the costs, if anyone wants some more clarity.*
