Help Luna Walk Again ❤️

Hi everyone,

This is really hard for me to write, but I’m asking for help for my dog, Luna.

I’ve had Luna since she was just 12 weeks old. She’s 12 years now, & will be 13 this December. She’s been by my side through many chapters of my life. She isn’t just a pet to me, she’s family, my best friend, & a constant in a world that hasn’t always been stable.

A couple days ago, Luna had an accident on a walk & tore the ligament in her knee. This is known as a cranial cruciate ligament rupture, or in laymen’s terms a dog’s torn ACL. Since then, she can barely put weight on her leg & is in a great deal of pain. After X-rays & an exam, the vet told me she needs TPLO surgery to fix it.

The part that gives me hope is that she’s still otherwise healthy. The vet said if everything goes well, she could have 2 to 3 more good years of quality life, possibly even more. Additionally, she has arthritis, which doesn’t help at her age & we want to get this taken care of as soon as possible to avoid her rupturing her other knee. The vet said this is very common without surgery. Luna still has a spark in her & I wholeheartedly believe it’s not her time to go.

Plain & simple the part that I am struggling with is the cost. The surgery is estimated to be $7,200, & that doesn’t include the medications she’s already on which are Galaprant, Proin, & Incurin. All the medications add up to $300 every month, on top of all her other regular care.

To be completely honest, I also just lost my job yesterday and that’s why I am seeking help I normally would never ask for. I never thought I would be in a position where I’d have to ask like this, but right now I truly can’t do it on my own.

Luna still wants to be here. You can see it in her. She just needs the chance to walk without pain again & enjoy the time she has left.
