Last Wednesday I came home to find my cat Luna had caught a mouse. I then learned my upstairs neighbours/landlords were using poison traps for pest control. Luna had gotten violently ill, and I rushed her to the vet. Things seemed stable, until we got results on Saturday that she has stage 4 kidney failure, and has rapidly lost 80-90% of her kidney function. We are awaiting further testing and results next week to see how the IV treatment I am administering to her daily, combined with the medication, is affecting her levels. Kidney damage is irreversible, but if there is no substantial improvement to possibly get her to an earlier stage of damage, we may be looking at 6-12 months of palliative care.
I can’t believe I am typing this, she was otherwise in excellent health, and is the sweetest cat I have ever met. I have had her since she was literally one day old, as my previous cat Bella was her mom, and she was born in my family home. She is my heart, and a part of my family.
The financial burden of this could not have come at a worst time. I hate putting this out there, asking for help, knowing that my industry isn’t the only one struggling right now, and that so many of us are feeling the economic stress.
If you are not in a place to be able to help, I completely understand. Any little bit does make a difference, but if you cannot contribute, please consider sharing if you feel comfortable to.
So far multiple vet visits, bloodwork, dialysis, urinalysis, emergency vet visit, IV fluids, antibiotics, and extended treatment and testing are currently estimated at $5,852
Thank you from my kitties and I.
If you believe, I ask for you to please send healing prayers our way. She is a strong girl, and I have faith we can take back from the time threatening to be stolen from her life.
We appreciate you,
Kat & Luna
