Meet Luna, our baby, our beautiful, sweet 5-year-old Cavoodle who means absolutely everything to us.

Today, what should have been a fun day at the park turned into an incredibly frightening experience for our family.

Luna was attacked by a brown Kelpie near Mosman Rowers, by Reid Park, suffering an injury to her right eye. We rushed her straight to the emergency veterinary hospital, where she needed urgent surgery and stitches to treat the damage.

We are incredibly grateful to the veterinary team who cared for her and gave our little girl the treatment she desperately needed.

What has made an already traumatic situation even more upsetting is that the owner of the Kelpie ran from the scene after the attack. He didn’t leave his name or phone number, and didn’t stay to find out whether Luna was OK.

After emergency treatment and surgery, Luna’s veterinary bill has reached $3,000.

Asking for financial help is something we never imagined we would do. Unfortunately, we are currently going through a period of genuine financial hardship. I am out of work, and having a sudden $3,000 emergency expense has put us in an incredibly difficult position.

Luna needed treatment immediately there was never a question that we would do whatever we could for her. She’s our family.

So, as difficult as it is for us to ask, we’re reaching out to our family, friends and anyone in the community who may be able to help us with the cost of Luna’s emergency treatment and recovery.

Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean more to us than we can express. Every dollar will go towards Luna’s veterinary costs and getting our little girl healthy again.

Luna is the most loving little soul. We just want to see her recover from this horrible attack, heal properly and get back to being the happy, beautiful girl we know and love.
