Help Luna Recover from a Hit and Run
Donation protected
On Saturday, May 3rd, my husband and I were outside doing yard work. We have a 2½-year-old husky named Luna. I call her my Luna Putuna. She loves being outside, chasing rabbits, and sitting to watch the kids playing down the cul-de-sac.
Luna is a well-known husky in our neighborhood. But on this particular Saturday evening, she broke her leash and got out. She was off the leash for less than three minutes while I went to get another one to bring her back.
I called her name, and she ran out of our neighbor’s backyard. In that exact moment, a driver sped down the cul-de-sac—right in front of me. He had no time to brake. I watched my dog Luna get hit, right there in front of my eyes.
I screamed so loudly that neighbors came outside to see what was happening. They saw my dog lying there, looking as if she were gone for good. I picked her up and rushed to Banfield Hospital, where they charged me $1,300 just to tell me I needed to take her to an emergency animal hospital.
Luna had four broken ribs. She had to undergo two major surgeries due to the impact of the hit. Her lungs kept filling with fluid, which had to be drained and monitored by the vet for over a week at the hospital.
We would truly appreciate any help, thank you!
