Luna Needs an Urgent Enucleation Surgery Now!

Meet Luna, our beloved blind husky distemper survivor. She was recently diagnosed with glaucoma and will have to have her eyes removed as soon as possible. She's already been through so much...

In 2018, when we first found her in Tel Aviv, she was severely ill with distemper. She weighed 20 lbs., could barely stand, and couldn't keep any food down. Every vet we brought her to said they would have to put her down, but we couldn't accept that fate for our blue eyed baby. After going to 5 different vets and talking to anyone and everyone we could, we finally found a vet who said she would do everything she could to save Luna... and she did! Blood transfusions, hospitalizations, hand-feeding, medications, monitoring, sleepless nights, and lots of love brought Luna healing. She started to gain strength, learned to walk again and even eat by herself.

Unfortunately with her healing came blindness-- the distemper had affected her brain and damaged her optic nerve. But Luna was a survivor, and blindness wasn't going to stop her! She sniffed and listened and learned her way to navigate with the gentleness and caution you would expect of newborn baby. Eventually, she gained her confidence and started to trot around, excited to explore all the world had to offer her. She started to bark, get super playful and love life: https://youtu.be/Dr8EAYFbsK8

Luna has been doing great for the past few years and even has a new sis! https://youtu.be/jTDpmXCE-ZU

She has also developed her methods to self-soothe when she gets stressed : https://youtu.be/VMrQyPoJxis

Recently, she was diagnosed with glaucoma which is an extremely painful degenerative eye condition. Apparently when a dog has glaucoma it feels like a perpetual migraine. She has been on 6 different medications to control the pressure, which she receives twice daily, but they are no longer working. She is visibly in pain and often cries which shows us her discomfort https://youtu.be/xnRppTTWkH8.

Our ophthalmologist advises that it is time to remove her eyes and that we should do it as soon as possible. She believes that this will improve the quality of Luna's life and we hope so too. This operation will cost around $2000 plus we have to cover her previous medical costs (over $1000 in specialist visits) which is far beyond our means right now. We want to get Luna the comfort she needs and are seeking assistance! Please help fund our babies surgery so she can live a long, happy, and pain-free life. She's been through so much already, I think she deserves it... don't you?

THANK YOU FOR CARING!
