Update: Luna has had surgery and is recovering at home. She is in a bit of pain but should be back to short walks very soon.

She will need more treatment to aid her recovery including light therapy and physio for her remaining hip.

Hi, I’m Laura.

If you know me — or if we’re friends on social media — you’ll know I have a lovely (and rather big!) dog called Luna. She recently turned four, so she’s still very young. Unfortunately, we’ve just found out that Luna has severe hip dysplasia . Her hips are so badly damaged that the only solution is a total hip replacement.

Luna is the sweetest dog and is adored by all of our family. She’s best friends with my little boy, George, who really misses going on long walks with his bestie. Luna also has lots of friends in our local park and is desperate to get back out there for walkies with them again.

I do have pet insurance, but it will only cover £3,100 of the £6,500 needed for her surgery.

To make matters harder, I’ve recently had a baby and have faced discrimination while trying to return to my job as a teacher — so my future job security is, sadly, uncertain.

I completely understand that times are tough right now with the cost of living, so please only donate if you’re able to. Any amount, no matter how small, would mean the world to us.

I will find a way to get Luna the operation she needs, but your support would make such a huge difference.
