Help Luna Fight Brain Cancer’s Butt!

Hello,

My name is Daria and I am Luna’s mom. Luna was a healthy, regular two-year-old, just about a month ago. A month ago, Luna's legs randomly started to shake as she walked. Noticed her arms doing almost the same a couple of days later. I had appointments after appointments, and all the providers in my area kept telling me it was normal. She had better days than others, so we would get our hopes up that she was OK. At the end of the day, I still truly believed there was something more. I was obviously worried because she was at a point where she needed to hold my hand to walk.

I finally got in touch with a Neurologist in San Francisco and she recommended that an MRI be done at once. When we got the MRI results back, we got the devastating news that she had a very BIG “tumor” in the side of her brain. We got transferred another hour away to a Children’s Hospital. They immediately performed surgery in her head by the brain, and miraculously were able to get all the tumor out. A week later we got the diagnosis of what the mass was and it turns out to be a very rare brain cancer that only affects babies/toddlers by 1%!

She will need to receive chemotherapy in three phases for about 8 months to a year. The hospital is a two-hour drive from our home and our visits will be 1-2 times a week. I will need to cut my work hours or most likely stop working to be able to take her to the appointments and attend to her symptoms of the chemotherapy treatment. We are asking for your support, anything at all truly helps us go through this journey for my sweet Luna. This would mainly be for medical and transportation expenses. **¡Ayuda a Luna a luchar contra el cáncer cerebral!**

Mi nombre es Daria y soy la mamá de Luna. Luna era una niña normal y saludable de dos años, hace apenas un mes. Hace un mes, las piernas de Luna al caminar o pararse le comenzaron a temblar. Noté que sus brazos hacían casi lo mismo un par de días después. Tenía cita tras cita y todos los proveedores en mi área me decían que era normal. Tenía días mejores que otros, así que nos hacíamos ilusiones que ella iba a estar bien. Al final del día, todavía creía sinceramente que había algo más de lo que me decían. En es momento yo ya estaba mas preocupada porque ella ya estaba en un punto en el que necesitaba tomar mi mano para caminar.

Finalmente me puse en contacto con un neurólogo en San Francisco y me recomendó que le hicieran una resonancia magnética (MRI) de inmediato. Cuando recibimos los resultados de la resonancia magnética(MRI), recibimos noticias devastadoras de que tenía un "tumor" muy GRANDE en un lado de su cerebro. Nos transfirieron a otro hospital a otra hora de distancia, específicamente a un Hospital de Niños. Inmediatamente le hicieron una cirugía en la cabeza, por el cerebro, y milagrosamente pudieron sacarle todo el tumor. ¡Una semana después recibimos el diagnóstico de lo que era el tumor, y resultó ser un cáncer cerebral muy raro que solo afecta a bebés/niños pequeños en un 1%!

Necesitará recibir quimioterapia en tres fases durante aproximadamente 8 meses a un año. El hospital está a dos horas en automóvil desde nuestra casa y nuestras visitas serán 1 o 2 veces por semana. Tendré que reducir mis horas de trabajo o muy probablemente dejar de trabajar para poder llevarla a sus citas y atender sus síntomas del tratamiento de quimioterapia. Estamos pidiendo su apoyo, cualquier cosa realmente nos ayuda a atravesar esta lucha, para mi dulce Luna. Esto sería principalmente para gastos médicos y de transporte.
