Help Luna Escape Abusive Family
Donation protected
My name is Anna Luna Blue. I'm 18 years old, a transgender girl in college for cybersecurity. For as long as I can remember, my parents have been physically, verbally and emotionally abusive, including several physical altercations and being run out of their house for fear of my physical safety more than once.
Since I've moved out, they've used their financial leverage over me and my tuition to make several demands, including trying to force me to stop transitioning and hide my queerness. I, obviously, would rather not do this, and am finally at a point in my life where I could reasonably rid myself of my abusive family once and for all.
I'm currently in the process of looking for work that I can do while still being a full time student, but even with 40 hours a week every week, it would be over 3 months until I could confidently and safely cut myself off from them permanently. $6600 is the absolute most it could cost to cover the Spring 2019 and Fall 2020 housing and tuition costs, although it will likely be less after scholarships are applied (I do not readily have the exact numbers available to me.) Over the summer, I plan on living with my girlfriend, who is soon going to be local.
This would be both a massive benefit to me and my mental and emotional health. After speaking with a therapist provided by my school, I've been told I show many symptoms for both C-PTSD and DID, likely resulting from my parents' abuse. The sooner that I am free of them, the sooner I can begin to really deal with these in a healthy capacity and begin the healing process.
Since many of the costs are variable as determined by my scholarships, it is possible I would end up with more money than necessary to pay for my bare necessities. This money would either go towards other necessities (medications, transportation, rent, etc.) or towards my education. The end goal of all of this is to finish university and find work in infosec, which is a lucrative and reliable enough field that I would be able to further pursue my transition and support myself without having to interact with my family again.
