Help Luna complete transition with gender-affirming surgery

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I'm Luna! You might already know me from around the internet, in-person, or maybe you're only just now learning I exist for the very first time. Whatever the case, thanks for stopping by!

Just to get you up to speed about me, I’m a trans woman who’s been transitioning for the best part of 5 years now. I don’t want to bore you with a big speech about what an amazing journey it’s been so far but, yeah, it’s been incredible. Being able to look in the mirror and finally see yourself is a pretty indescribable feeling, and the widespread support I’ve received over the years has been truly heartwarming. I find myself now over 18 months on hormones, and almost all other aspects of my transition; social, legal etc complete. It’s amazing to have already come so far, but there’s one massive mountain left to climb and I know that I’m going to need help this time to overcome it.

Getting to the point, I’m seeking your support to help me fund gender-affirming surgery which, by the time the surgery takes place, will effectively complete my transition (aside from the generally life-long commitment of continuing to take hormones). So far, I have funded my transition entirely by myself, but surgery is something that I have to be realistic about and accept that I’ll need help to fund it.

At the time of writing, this surgery will run at an estimated total cost of just over £20K including consultation, the surgery itself, and the associated costs with the hospital stay. However, I believe it is only right that I try to cover as much of the cost myself as possible and, frankly, it simply feels unacceptable for me to even attempt to raise the full amount from the wonderful communities I've found myself in over the last few years, who’ve already massively supported me. So, I've set the funding goal for £10K, a little under half of the total surgery cost. Reaching this goal will ensure that the surgery, whilst still very expensive, is something I will be able to realistically budget for.

UPDATE 09/09/25 : In the months since the crowdfunder began I have been able to free up additional funds and also received some support from outside of GoFundMe. As such I have been able to bring the funding goal down to £5K. The GFM goal is now listed as £4850 to reflect all of this.

This is still an extreme amount of money to be asking for. Believe me, I've spent several months debating if I even have the right to create a crowdfunder for myself when there are so many more pressing issues in the world that deserve your attention and support. However, a future where I am finally fully at home in my own body after so many years is something I just can’t deny myself the opportunity to try for.

Whether we reach the goal or not, your support means the world to me. Whether you donate, share, or simply took the time to read this far, if you’ve supported me for years or are finding me for the first time, thank you. Your kindness is something I will spend the rest of my life doing my best to pay forward to the fullest extent possible.

Below are a couple of FAQ questions that you may find useful. Thank you all so much again for your time and support <3

If crowdfunding is successful, when will the surgery take place?

My current job contract ends in early Spring next year, though I am quite hopeful of a contract renewal. Soon after this, in the event of the crowdfunder being successful, I will begin arranging the surgery consultation, with the surgery itself hopefully happening somewhere in the 2nd half of 2026. This will be dictated by the surgeon's availability. Given the large funding goal, I have decided to start the crowdfunder sooner rather than later in order to allow as much time as possible to raise funds.

The remainder of this year will be focussed on other life matters I need to attend to in order to be logistically ready for the surgery and recovery period.

Following a successful crowdfunder, will progress updates be provided?

Yes, absolutely! While I won't be able to disclose certain information for privacy and safety reasons, I fully intend to keep donators in the loop as things progress! If people have been generous enough to send me on this final stretch of my journey, then I definitely want to bring you along for the ride with me! <3
