With the current political climate and uneasiness of living in a conservative area in a red state, my partner and I are looking to move to WA with our dog Biscuit. We bought a house a couple years ago that ended up needing a lot of repairs and ended up adding a lot more to our debt. Lumen, my partner, was able to get top surgery last year due to the generosity of the community and consolidation of our debt. We are working to sell our home, but are looking at a loss of 10k-20k before the needed repairs due to closing costs. We are selling and downsizing our current possessions and looking at apartments in WA where my partner has family. I am working as a therapist and moved to working 6 days a week. To give perspective, a usual caseload is about 15-20 weekly. I see about 35 folx weekly to help us try to get by. I primarily do complex trauma work with my fellow queer AuDHD folx and really love my job. With our current debt we pay about 2.5k monthly on top of our 2.6k mortgage and then monthly bills on top of that. Lumen is disabled and only able to do about 30 minutes of work a day, even remotely. We got a quote for our front porch which has been falling apart since we got the house and that's an additional 3.8k. We're both AuDHD and trans. We wouldn't be asking for help if we knew any other way to get there while having secured housing when we arrived.
