Help Us Save Lulu – Our Brave Girl Fighting a Rare Disease

Hi everyone,

This is our sweet girl, Lulu. She’s a vibrant, loving 4-year-old pup who recently faced a frightening medical emergency. Lulu was diagnosed with a tick-borne illness called Ehrlichia, an autoimmune disease that attacks her blood cells. Despite being on medication, we discovered the treatment wasn’t strong enough—and things took a terrifying turn.

Last week, Lulu had to be rushed to the emergency veterinary hospital. She was hemorrhaging due to her platelet count dropping to zero—a life-threatening complication of the disease. It was one of the scariest moments of our lives. Thankfully, she received immediate and expert care, and she's now responding well to treatment.

Lulu may need to battle this illness for the rest of her life. Sadly, her emergency care wasn’t covered by insurance—because her diagnosis came just before we could get coverage in place. That meant her care was classified as a pre-existing condition. In order to save her life, I had to take out a high-interest loan to cover the cost of overnight hospital stays, critical testing, and medications.

As you can imagine, this has placed an overwhelming financial strain on us. Like many families, we’re doing our best to stay afloat, and the added debt is a heavy burden. I’m reaching out with hope in my heart to ask for your support. Whether it’s $5, $50, or simply sharing Lulu’s story, any contribution helps and means the world to us.
