Help Luke out - the chopper cost 11k (WTAF!)
Donation protected
As many of you may already know Luke and I were involved in a 200km+ high speed crash caused by a goose (yes a fucking goose) on turn 3 (Stoner Corner) at Phillip island race track.
I was exceptionally lucky to get up and walk away with only superficial injuries and some random goose meat suck in a few strange places but Luke was not as lucky.
Luke was administered with three separate doses of ketamine before the medics were able to stabilise him and move him into the medivac chopper, unfortunately for Luke the chopper was non negotiable due to the severity of his injuries and the remote location of the track - he needed to get to a hospital and quickly.
The same chopper also came with a non negotiable bill - $11,000.00 (yep 11K).
Luke has now exhausted all avenues regarding the waiving or at least a reduction of this bill and has been told that it must be paid in full.
The list of injuries and trauma that Luke sustained in the accident is long and complications are still only now becoming apparent even after 5 weeks such as additional surgery being required to repair soft tissue damage in his knee that was not picked up in the initial hospital scans.
On top of not being able to work, still having to find funds to cover astronomical ongoing medical costs and medivac chopper bill Luke is trying to heal a broken collarbone, fractured ribs, gravel rash, lacerations to chest and stomach, broken finger and excruciating pain from nerve damage day and night.
Luke also managed to shatter the humerus in his right arm with a double dose of nerve damage....
Initial reports from surgeons and specialists were that it may be 6 weeks before any movement would be regained in his right wrist, this has since been changed to a possible 6-12 months.
As a right handed tattooist I feel like Luke is now up shit creek with a paddle he can’t use.
Whether you are from the tattooing “community”, part of the motorbike “crew” or simply a valued friend you need to know that Luke would not ask for help so I’m getting in and doing it for him.
It would be beyond amazing to be able to contribute towards the cost of the medivac chopper and some of the ongoing medical costs so both Luke and Di can both concentrate on the important stuff like healing.
If you feel the same and are in a position where you are able please contribute what you can.
You are doing something good, Luke is a legend and needs our help.
