Help Luke Mauldin Get His Life Back

This is Rachel, but for once I'm not writing an update for myself, but for Luke. Anyone who knows Luke Mauldin knows what I mean when I say I want to give him a standing ovation for the person he is. He’s that stand-up, easy-going, fiercely faithful, full of love man that is very loved in return.
Many of you probably are not aware, because Luke is not in the habit of sharing, how he has been battling severe headache pain for many years. In the last four months, the pain has greatly increased, to the point of being debilitating, constant migraine/headache/attack headaches. It is now the incessant, every day, sleep isn’t deep enough, tears don’t matter, what is time, what are days, kind of pain. He cannot go outside in the sun without his head screaming and his life has been reduced mostly to his bed in the dark. Breaks our hearts every day!!
We are gathering together those of us who can champion for Luke. Because of COVID and because he doesn’t have health insurance, he hasn’t been able to get that much outside help so far. He has tried everything he can think of. He and Melonie have dutifully researched with no relief and prayer has been a constant begging from all of us that he gets a real breakthrough. It has taken a long time for him to let us do this fundraiser and we do so with eager hearts that the grand network of ALL THE PEOPLE that know and love Luke will be able to help him get his life back. We miss him, as do many others.
He has gone to a neurologist and gotten 2 MRIs, and those thankfully are clear but the medicines he was prescribed did not help in the slightest. He had his first long-awaited appointment at the Headache Institute in San Antonio on July 17th. It was very encouraging and has given Luke hope. But it is expensive.
Initial known costs are upwards of $2000, including doctor appointments, blood work, and an MRI. We will know more costs as his treatment progresses.
We are inviting you to walk with him and his family in this. In prayer, wisdom, funds, good thoughts, love, knowledge….Luke will be very encouraged and empowered when he experiences the outpouring that is coming.
As with all healing, we know this is going to take all of the things (patience, one step forward, two steps back) but that he will get through this, and something will be found that helps him.
When Luke can’t eat a meal sitting up, or function at any normal level, not even close to it, that’s when it’s time for help, for us to step in and hold him up. Love y’all!!
