Help Luke Lesperance’s recovery

As many of you know my son Luke suffered a severe injury on September 15 when he fell and impaled his right eye. He had to have emergency surgery to stabilize his eye and repair as much as they could at that time. He has had 2 ultrasounds but there is too much blood behind his eye to see the damage. On October 8th he is going to have a second surgery to find out if his retina is damaged and try to repair it at that time. They will be removing his lens and they are putting air bubbles behind his eye to prevent shrinking. 

He is in for a long recovery and he may never have his sight restored. Because of the air bubbles they will be putting in his eye he will have to get a special bed to sleep face down on for 8 or more weeks. This bed is not covered by his insurance but it is a necessity in his recovery.

The doctors have said that he will be unable to work for six months to a year! Luke is self employed and is the primary support for his family.He is not only looking at a financial hardship for the next coming year but also his business will be at risk. His wife is trying her best to help and work with the business as much as she can but after his surgery she will need to be home to help in his recovery. His greatest fear is letting his family down. 

We are asking help however you feel able to get through this toughest part of his recovery. We know that a lot of people are in need this year with everything happening around us and we would not be asking if the situation wasn’t dire.
