Help Luke Borden on His Road to Recovery:
A Story of Hope, Courage, and the Need for Support
On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 2 PM, Luke was working a fall cleanup for the landscaping company he works for. What began as a regular day of hard work quickly turned into a life-changing moment when he tragically fell and hit his head on the ball hitch on the back of a truck.
Luke was rushed by ambulance to Wentworth Douglass Hospital in New Hampshire, where doctors quickly intubated him and did a CT scan, which showed subarachnoid hemorrhage. Without wasting time, they sent him by helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
By 4 PM, Luke was in surgery. The doctors had to remove part of his skull to stop the bleeding, reduce the swelling, and stabilize him. After the surgery, Luke was in a coma and intubated until Friday, November 22. He slowly started waking up, and by Monday, November 25, he was talking again.
While Luke has made amazing progress, the road ahead is still long. He faces a second surgery to replace the portion of his skull that was removed, along with ongoing physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language therapy (OT, PT, and SLP). The physical and emotional toll this injury has taken on him and his loved ones is immense, and as if the situation wasn't difficult enough, the insurance Luke has does not cover all of the expenses. Luke is left with 35% of the costs to cover on his own.
Luke is a kind and caring person who always looks out for the people in his life. He has brought joy to many—his family, girlfriend Alex, Alex’s family, friends, and coworkers in New Hampshire, New Jersey, and beyond. He is known for his big heart and his love of cooking and sharing meals with others. Luke is always ready to help anyone who needs it. He is a gentle soul who works hard to take care of the people he loves, including his dog Tito, who he adores.
Now, Luke needs our help.
We are asking for your help to support Luke’s recovery and ensure he can focus on healing without the overwhelming burden of medical bills. Your donation will help cover the cost of surgeries, therapies, and long-term care that Luke desperately needs. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in his journey toward recovery.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Donate: Your financial support will go directly to Luke’s medical expenses and rehabilitation.
2. Share: Spread the word and help us reach more people who can offer support, whether financially or through encouragement.
3. Pray and Support: If you can’t donate, sharing a kind word or a prayer for Luke can mean the world to him and his family.
Luke has shown incredible strength through this unimaginable challenge, but he can't do it alone. He needs our community's support now more than ever.
Together, we can help Luke heal. Please donate and share this story to help Luke on his road to recovery.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
