Luke is not just our dog. He’s our best friend, our shadow, and our constant companion. Just a few days ago, Luke was perfectly healthy—his normal happy self, wagging his tail, following us around the house, and bringing joy to everyone he meets. Then suddenly, everything changed. He became weak and lethargic, and we rushed him to the emergency vet. He was diagnosed with Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA), a life-threatening autoimmune disease where his own immune system began destroying his red blood cells. Within hours, Luke’s condition became critical. His red blood cell levels dropped dangerously low, and he required an emergency blood transfusion to survive. He is currently hospitalized at BluePearl Pet Hospital receiving life-saving care, medications, and constant monitoring. Luke is only 7 years old and has been otherwise completely healthy. He has so much life left to live. He’s the sweetest, most loving dog anyone could ask for. He’s been there for us through everything, and now he needs our help more than ever. The cost of his emergency care has already exceeded what we can manage and continues to rise with hospitalization, transfusions, and treatment needed to give him a fighting chance.
