My name is Jennifer LaFosse and my husband Luke, my best friend, my everything, was in an accident almost 2 weeks ago. He was thrown from his scooter and found there along the feeder road of highway 290, and was immediately taken to Memorial Hermann downtown in a coma with severe trauma to the brain. He hasn't opened his eyes, he isn't responding to commands, he has a shunt is his brain to drain fluid and relieve the pressure. But Luke is a fighter, and moreover he's stubborn. He moves around a lot, breathes on his own (with the help of a ventilator as needed), and even has a feeding plug to get nutrition. He is still in critical condition and we are taking this day by day. Yesterday he had a second surgery to remove more of his skull on the opposite side from the first surgery to reduce further pressure in his brain.
Luke was also my mechanic, and in his absence I've had to rely on rides from friends, family, and even Ubers to see him in the hospital while our truck is in the shop and awaiting its own diagnosis and repairs. Any money donated will go towards getting the transportation squared away and then towards his looming medical costs. I am so grateful for everyone who has already reached out and has been helping up through this time, and I was reminded that setting up a GoFundMe would allow others who are farther away to help as well. Thank you everyone for your love and support in this critical time for us. If anyone can make it through this, and be smiling on the other side of it, it's Luke.
