Hi everyone, we are some of Lukas Rodriguez’s family and close friends and we wanted to set up this fundraiser on his behalf. On March 26th he was admitted to the hospital SCRIPPS in Encinitas after 2 weeks of neck pain and headaches. He had an episode where he was unable to speak for a few hours. After many tests, CT scan, MRI of his brain, blood test and lumbar puncture, it was discovered that he has an infection in his brain, which requires 3 weeks of a heavy anti-viral medication by IV. He had to stay in the hospital for 6 days. While in the hospital, he was unable to remember the names of family, close friends, and many objects. After few days of IV meds, his neck and headache seemed to be improving. He was sent home with family and was given oral meds to continue the anti-viral treatment. About 6 days later, he started to decline quickly. When he tried to speak, nothing made sense, and he could not be understood. Personality changes started and his parents took him to a nearby hospital where he was admitted through the ER. Another MRI of the brain showed swelling in the temporal lobe of his brain, causing his inability to speak/understand simple commands. He has now since been moved to the ICU seeing as his condition has severely worsened. Because he is unable to perform simple tasks like eating or communicating without help….he is unable to go back to work. As of now, we are not sure how long this recovery process will take. We are starting this fundraiser to hopefully help him with his pilling up expenses like rent, utilities, and bills. On behalf of Lukas, thank you. If you cannot donate, prayers work too!
