Help Lukas Recover After Emergency Eye Surgery
Earlier this week, what started as a broken pair of glasses turned into a medical emergency. When Lukas went in for an eye exam to replace his broken glasses, doctors found a severe retinal detachment in his left eye, along with holes in both eyes. Within hours, Lukas was scheduled for emergency surgery to save his vision.
The good news is: the surgery went well. Lukas is now in recovery, and healing will take time. He has several follow-up appointments ahead, and for at least the next couple of weeks, he won’t be able to work.
As a low-income trans person on Oregon Health Plan with no paid time off left, Lukas is facing a painful reality: he’s recovering from major surgery while wondering how he’ll pay rent, buy groceries, and cover the basics.
This fundraiser is here to make sure Lukas can rest, heal, and get to his follow-up care without the added stress of financial survival.
Your support will go toward:
- Rent, food, and essentials
- Transportation to follow-up appointments
- Post-surgery needs and recovery care
- A little peace of mind in a very scary time
Lukas is one of those people who shows up for others — who holds space, brings joy, and creates community wherever he goes. Right now, he needs us to show up for him.
If you can donate, please do. If you can’t, please share this and send love his way. Every bit helps.
Let’s make sure Lukas knows he’s not alone.
