On June 24th, around noon, my beloved dog, Luka, was viciously attacked by another dog while we were peacefully walking back home—on leash—through our neighborhood in Lexington Square. Despite being securely restrained, Luka stood no chance when the other animal, whose owner failed to control it, suddenly charged and mauled him.

The injuries were severe. He was rushed into emergency surgery and has since endured multiple treatments. His recovery is ongoing, and every day is a battle—not just for him, but for our family as well.

To date, we’ve spent over $15,000 in veterinary bills just to keep him alive. On top of this financial burden, We have lost wages due to missed work and have experienced significant emotional trauma watching our best friend suffer through something so senseless and preventable.

A witness confirmed that Luka was leashed at the time of the attack. Additionally, my sister heard the other dog’s owner admit full responsibility and promise to cover all medical expenses. Sadly, that promise was never honored, and the story changed when it came time to speak with authorities.

We considered sharing photos of his current condition to show the severity of his injuries, but they are simply too heartbreaking and graphic. It's been incredibly painful to witness him in this state, and we want to preserve his dignity as he fights to recover.
